Press Release: A New Political Committee forms in Littleton
A new Political Committee, Littleton Grows Together, has been formed in Littleton by the committee’s registered agent Amy Conklin. The committee’s objective is to help get elected those city council candidates who support policies that will position Littleton to successfully adapt to a changing future. Topics and positions on housing, transportation, the environment and community building as well as others will be considered in selecting candidates to endorse.
Amy Conklin is a former Littleton Planning Commissioner and council member. Conklin has devoted the past ten years to developing and nurturing Littleton’s leadership. She was a founder of the Littleton Leadership Academy and now is co-chair of the Littleton Community Retreat. She recently helped draft Littleton’s first Environmental Action Plan as a member of the Environmental Stewardship Board. Conklin is a scientist who for the last 17 years has owned a water consulting company.
Littleton Grows Together is committed to ensuring that competent, passionate, qualified people get elected to serve on Littleton’s City Council. The candidates the committee supports will understand the broader issues impacting our community and want to forge a path forward into the future; respecting the past without being confined by it.
The 2025 Littleton City Council race is anticipated to be very busy with two candidates already registering to run for Mayor and two candidates for District 3. Conklin is particularly concerned about a petition being circulated to change the Littleton Charter that, if passed, will make Littleton more exclusionary and would negatively impact Littleton’s economic viability. Littleton Grows Together has a vision for the city remaining a community where our children can afford to live; a place where our firefighters, nurses and teachers can afford to live; and a place where our elders can age in place.
No one knows what the future will be like but with educated and well-researched policies, Littleton’s leaders can make their best decisions on how to build such a community. The decisions are difficult, especially under the constant, ever-changing pressures in today’s world. That’s why Littleton Grows Together supports candidates who are open-minded, who build wide community support through proper engagement with all who live here, and not primarily funded by small, specialized interest groups with a hidden funded agenda. Conklin added, “In the past, when we’ve elected leaders who have narrow, one size fits all solutions that has harmed our community.”
“Because we live in a representative democracy, where we elect people to learn about the complicated issues in our community, rather than voting on every issue directly, I think it’s important to ensure that thoughtful candidates capable of understanding our complex times are supported.”
